Stereotype of Pole among young people in Ostrava and its surroundings

Abstract:

The main topic of the work presented below is the Pole stereotype functioning in the teenage community living in Ostrava and its surroundings. This work has been divided into research and theoretical parts.The theoretical part tells us about the stereotype itself as well as its functions. It brings us closer to the history of Poles and Czechs and their mutual contacts over the centuries till present times.The most common stereotypes of a Pole are presented in the following chapters. The practical part is created on the basis of a questionnaire, the purpose of which was to find out what stereotypes of Poles prevail among teenagers from Ostrava and its surroundings. The survey revealed which stereotypical features of Poles are most often seen by Czechs, the attitude of Czechs towards Poles, whether Czech youth has Polish roots, whether they visit Poland and meet Poles or consume Polish food.

Abstract:

Głównym tematem niniejszej pracy jest stereotyp Polaka funkcjonujący wśród młodzieży zamieszkującej Ostrawę i jej okolice. Praca została podzielona na część teoretyczną i część badawczą. Część teoretyczna zaznajamia ze stereotypem i jego funkcjami. Opisana jest historia Polaków i Czechów oraz ich wzajemne kontakty w przeciągu wieków i w czasach współczesnych. W dalszych rozdziałach zaprezentowane są najczęściej spotykane stereotypy Polaka. Część praktyczna tworzona jest na podstawie ankiety, której celem było stwierdzenie, jaki stereotyp Polaka przeważa wśród młodzieży z Ostrawy i jej okolic. W badaniu ankietowym stwierdzono, jakie stereotypowe cechy Polaków widzą Czesi najczęściej, jakie nastawienie do Polaków ma młodzież z Czech, czy czeska młodzież ma polskie korzenie, czy odwiedza Polskę, czy spotyka Polaków, czy konsumuje polską żywność.
