Contextual analysis of Poésie pour pouvoir by Pierre Boulez

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce ,,Kontextuální analýza Poésie pour pouvoir Pierra Bouleze“ je pokusem o popsání kontextu vzniku a jednotlivých aspektů kompozice Poésie pour pouvoir Pierra Bouleze na text Henriho Michauxe. Metodou práce je aplikace novomediálních teorií a terminologie tzv. elektroakustické hudby. Klade si také za cíl přinést nový úhel pohledu na roli poezie ve skladatelské tvorbě Pierra Bouleze. Snaží se také jeho dílo zařadit do historického a sociokulturního kontextu doby jeho vzniku. Pojímá Poésie pour pouvoir nejen jako dílo hudební, ale především jako multimediální dílo, využívající prvky elektroakustické, prostorové a konkrétní hudby. Zohledněn je také literární prvek, báseň Poésie pour pouvoir Henriho Michaux. Vedlejším cílem práce je také v rámci studia nových médií pojmenovat tendence v chápání poezie v oblasti elektroakustické hudby v době vzniku Poésie pour pouvoir. Činí si také nároky být příspěvkem do debaty o vztahu poezie, novomediálního umění a elektroakustické hudby.

Abstract:

The thesis ,,The contextual analysis of Pierre Boulez's Poésie pour pouvoir" is an attempt to describe the context of the development of Poésie pour pouvoir, the composition of Pierre Boulez based on a poem by Henri Michaux, and to analyze its several aspects. The method of this analysis is an application of new media theories and the terms of so called ,,electro-acoustic" music. The aim of this work is to search the new points of view to the role of poetry in the body of work of Pierre Boulez. It also attempts to explain the historical and socio-cultural background of this piece. In this thesis, Poésie pour pouvoir is understood not only as a piece of music, but primarly as a piece of multimedia art, based on principles of electro-acoustic music, spatial music, musique concrete but also on the poem by Henri Michaux which stands as a piece of art and also as an autonomous artistic media itself. Another topic of this work is the new understanding of the role of poetry in the electronic music in the era of Pierre Boulez. It is also an attempt to join the discussion about the correlations between the poetry, new media art and electronic music.
