Comparison of CPU cooling methods

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce pojednává o problematice chlazení procesorů. Hlavním cílem této práce bylo předložit základní teoretický rámec reflektující danou oblast a v praktické části porovnat výkony vzduchových a vodních chladičů, včetně jejich vlivu na okolní komponenty. Teoretická část se skládá ze tří kapitol. První kapitola slouží k úvodu do problematiky a k prvotní orientaci v otázce vzniku tepla u počítačů. Následující kapitola je zaměřena na samotné šíření tepla a rozdílné způsoby přenosu. Poslední kapitola teoretické části pojednává o způsobech chlazení v jejich nynější a budoucí podobě. Praktická část je věnována provedenému měření a prezentaci výsledků, jež byly získány prostřednictvím opakovaného měření teplot jednotlivých komponent. Byl zaznamenáván vliv jednotlivých chladičů na výsledné teploty, včetně hlučnosti a spotřeby s tím spojené. Získané údaje byly po analýze zpracovány do grafů a tabulek, jež poskytují přehled výsledků výkonů jednotlivých chladičů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of cooling processors. The main focus of this work was to present the basic theoretical framework reflecting the given area, and in the practical part to compare the performance of air and water coolers, including their influence on the surrounding components. The theoretical part consists of three chapters. The first chapter is an introduction to the topic and the initial orientation in the issue of heat generation in computers. The following chapter focuses on the heat transfer itself and the different transmission methods. The last chapter of the theoretical part deals with the ways of cooling in their present and future form. The practical part is focused on measurement and presentation of the results obtained by repeated measurement of the temperatures of the individual components. The effect of individual coolers on the resulting temperatures, including their noise and consumption, was recorded. The obtained data were processed into graphs and tables after the analysis to create an overview of the performance results of individual coolers.
