Asimilace znělosti u finálních konsonant v projevech moderátorů televizních zpráv

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the phonetic issue of devoicing, specifically focuses on the devoicing of the final consonant /d/ in the speech of British and American news anchors and compares the two varieties of the English language. The theoretical part outlines what acoustic phonetics is, describes voice and the issue of devoicing. The methodology then explains how the data for the corpus of this paper was collected and how the corpus was then analysed. The analysis then describes each word that was selected and its final consonant, and classifies whether the consonant was voiced, devoiced, or partially devoiced. The last chapter of this thesis summarises the results of the analysis and attempts to reach conclusions on the difference in devoicing between British and American speakers.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou asimilace znělosti se zaměřením na asimilaci znělosti finální konsonanty /d/ v řeči britských a amerických moderátorů televizních zpráv a následně porovnává tyto dvě varianty anglického jazyka. Teoretická část této práce vysvětluje co je to akustická fonetika, popisuje znělost a problematiku asimilace znělosti. Metodologická část dále nastiňuje, jak byla sbírána data potřebná k tvorbě korpusu a následně jak byl samotný korpus analyzován. Analytická část poté popisuje každé jednotlivé slovo a jeho finální konsonantu a klasifikuje konsonanty jako znělé, podléhající asimilaci znělosti a částečně znělé. Poslední kapitola této práce shrnuje výsledky analýzy a pokouší se dojít k závěrům co se týče rozdílů mezi britskými a americkými mluvčími.
