Diplomová práce se zabývá prvním funkčním obdobím předsedy Evropské rady Hermana Van Rompuye, které trvalo od prosince 2009 do května 2012. Herman Van Rompuy se po přijetí Lisabonské smlouvy stal prvním stálým předsedou ER a diplomová práce si klade otázku, zda naplňoval své povinnosti podle Lisabonské smlouvy, vyhýbal se jim, nebo se snažil o emancipaci. Abstract:
The diploma thesis focuses on Herman Van Rompuy's first term in office as a President of the European Council (EC). Herman Van Rompuy became the first permanent president of the EC after adoption of the Lisbon Treaty in December 2009 and his first term in office lasted until May 2012.
