Jonas Hassen Khemiri and the society of fear

Abstract:

Jonas Hassen Khemiri is a Swedish author one of whose parent has a migrant background. His books Ett öga rött and Jag ringer mina bröder make a social commentary which presents the situation of the members of ethnic or religious communities in Sweden. He depicts a society, which unknowingly builds up fear in members of these minorities, which gives grounds to conflicts between them and the members of the majority. His books also present an insight into psychological circumstances of members of these minorities. Books are analysed with help of post-colonial literary analysis, which inspects the ideas of personal and societal identity. Another analysed subject is the way in which these identities are born through language and how they are influenced by fear. Another point of interest is the way in which Jonas Hassen Khemiri explains that the way we currently think about personal and social identity aren’t sufficient in a globalized world.

Abstract:

Jonas Hassen Khemiri je švédsky autor, ktorého jeden rodič má mimošvédske pozadie. Jeho knihy Ett öga rött a Jag ringer mina bröder sú sociálnym komentárom, ktoré prezentujú situáciu členov etnických alebo náboženských minorít vo Švédsku. Ukazuje obraz spoločnosti, ktorá nevedome buduje v členoch týchto minorít strach a tým spôsobuje, že medzi nimi a väčšinovým obyvateľstvom vznikajú konflikty. Zároveň knihy poskytujú vhľad do psychiky členov týchto minorít. Knihy sú analyzované s pomocou postkoloniálnej literárnej analýzy, ktorá sa zameriava na pojem osobnej identity a spoločenskej identity. Zároveň je analyzované, akým spôsobom sa tieto identity vytvárajú pomocou jazyka a ako sú ovplyvňované strachom. Taktiež je skúmané, akým spôsobom Jonas Hassen Khemiri vysvetľuje, že súčasné spôsoby, ktorými rozmýšľame nad osobnou a spoločenskou identitou nie sú v globalizovanom svete aktuálne
