Transcendence degree of field extensions

Anotace:

V této bakalářské práci se věnujeme teorii transcendentních rozšíření těles. Nejdříve si zavedeme pojem relace závislosti a ukážeme, že algebraická závislost je příkladem takové relace. Potom pomocí algebraické závislosti definujeme bázi transcendence a stupeň transcendence. Posléze popíšeme vlastnosti těchto pojmů a poté se chvíli budeme soustředit na speciální případ čistě transcendentních rozšíření těles. Ve druhé kapitole nejdříve sepíšeme pojmy a tvrzení z teorie modulů, konečných rozšíření těles, derivací na oboru integrity a komplexní analýzy, a následně tato tvrzení aplikujeme v důkazu, že dvě známé konstanty e a π jsou transcendentní čísla.

Abstract:

In this thesis we study the concept of transcendental field extensions. At first, we describe the notion of dependence relations and show that algebraic dependence is indeed an example of a dependence relation. Then we use the notion of algebraic dependence to define the terms transcendence base and transcendence degree. Then we talk about these terms' properties and, later, concentrate on the special case of purely transcendental field extensions. In the second chapter, we first have to write down several theorems from the module theory, then talk about finite field extensions, derivations on integral domains and some complex analysis. Finally, we use these facts to prove that the well known constants e and π are transcendental numbers.
