Social engineering in the gaming environment

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je seznámit čtenáře s problematikou bezpečnostních hrozeb, především s jednotlivými technikami sociálního inženýrství se zaměřením na phishing a provést kvantitativní výzkum v této oblasti. Pro splnění prvního cíle je vymezena teoretická část, kde je nejdříve představen kyberprostor a bezpečnostní hrozby jako malware a sociální inženýrství. Jsou představeny jednotlivé druhy těchto hrozeb, které jsou podrobněji popsány. Dále je představeno herní prostředí a specifické útoky, které se v něm vyskytují. V praktické části práce je popsán provedený kvantitativní výzkum zaměřující se na povědomí o sociálním inženýrství a bezpečnosti ve formě dotazníkového šetření, kterého se zúčastnilo celkem 248 respondentů z náhodného a hráčského vzorku respondentů. V závěru práce jsou shrnuty výsledky výzkumu.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to introduce the reader to the issue of security threats, especially to the various social engineering techniques with a focus on phishing, and to conduct quantitative research in this area. To meet the first objective, a theoretical section is defined where cyberspace and security threats such as malware and social engineering are first introduced. The different types of these threats are introduced and described in more detail. Next, the gaming environment and the specific attacks that occur in it are introduced. In the practical part of the thesis, the quantitative research conducted focusing on social engineering and security awareness in the form of a questionnaire survey is described in which a total of 248 respondents from a random and gamer sample of respondents participated. The paper concludes with a summary of the research findings.
