Draft of a model solution for long-term preservation of selected types of audio documents in the memory institutions of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na problematiku ochrany zvukových dokumentů v paměťových institucích České republiky. Toto téma si klade za cíl prozkoumat v praktické části výzkumným šetřením kvalitativního typu. Metodou byly polostrukturované rozhovory realizované s pracovníky archivů, knihoven a muzeí. Zjištěné výsledky jsou konfrontovány se standardem TC 05, což je metodická pomůcka od International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives, odborné kapacity v problematice mezinárodní působnosti. Vzhledem k tomu, že v České republice obdobně specializovaná pomůcka neexistuje, výstupem praktické části je návrh modelového řešení v podobě této pomůcky. V teoretické části práce je probrán vývoj zvukových nosičů od mechanických typů po optické. Mechanickým typům se zde věnuje více prostoru. Představují totiž zaměření námi zpracované pomůcky pro ochranu zvukových dokumentů, kterou považujeme za výstup práce s potenciálem dopadu do praxe.

Abstract:

Thesis focuses on the audio documents preservation issue in a field of memory institutions of Czech Republic. The aim of the practical section is to survey the issue by doing qualitative research. There is used the method of semi-structured interviews. Respondents consisted of the staff of the memory institutions of the all types. The outcomes of the research are compared to the norm TC 05 from International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives. This Association has an international scope and it is considered as professional in the field. Because there is no guideline like this norm in Czech Republic, the draft of the model solution is the outcome of the practical section and it represents such a guideline for Czech Republic. In the theoretical section of the thesis there is an overview of audio documents history. The overview includes the development of mechanical carriers up to optical type of the carriers. More attention is given to mechanical type because it is a subject of the guideline. We consider the guideline as an outcome of the thesis with a potential impact to practice.
