The aim of this thesis is to analyse the trend in government debt in Euro area countries and secondly to consider proposals for creation of fiscal union in the EU regarding their impact on monetary policy of Eurosystem. Cieľom diplomovej práce je analyzovať vývoj vládneho dlhu v krajinách eurozóny, posúdiť návrhy v oblasti budovania fiškálnej únie v EÚ s dôsledkami na výkon menovej politiky Eurosystému.
