Effects of MMMC and bicarbonates neutralization on the stability of printing black ink

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je posoudit vliv neutralizačních činidel a urychleného stárnutí na stabilitu vrstvy tiskařské černě. Pro zhotovení vzorků byl použit ruční papír a tiskařská čerň, která obsahovala jako pojidlo předpolymerovaný lněný olej a pigment lampové saze. Část vzorků se podrobila urychlenému stárnutí vlivem vlhkého tepla, následně byla provedena jejich neutralizace s využitím MMMK a hydrogenuhličitanů a část neutralizovaných vzorků byla podrobena dalšímu urychlenému stárnutí vlivem vlhkého tepla. V experimentální části byla pro vrstvu tiskařské černě měřena změna povrchového pH a testem odolnosti proti oděru mechanická stabilita.

Abstract:

The goal of this master thesis is to assess the effect of neutralization agents and accelerated aging on the printing black ink layer stability. Samples were manufactured from hand-made paper and printing black ink, which contained pre-cross-linked linseed oil as a binder and lampblack pigment. A portion of samples was aged by the effect of moist heat, followed by MMMC and bicarbonate neutralization. A portion of the neutralized samples was then subjected to moist heat aging again. In the experimental section changes to surface pH of black printing layer were measured and abrasion resistance test was used to evaluate mechanical stability of said layer.
