Natality and fertility in the Czech Republic and their differentiation

Abstract:

Cílem předložené bakalářské práce byla statistická analýza vývoje plodnosti a porodnosti v České republice v letech 2004 – 2020, včetně posouzení regionálních rozdílů. Vývoj průměrného věku matky při narození prvního dítěte byl popsán kvadratickou trendovou funkcí a pro vývoj hrubé míry porodnosti byl zvolen model exponenciálního vyrovnání. V rámci extrapolace vybraných časových řad byly predikovány hodnoty obou ukazatelů na 4 následující období. V blízké budoucnosti lze předpokládat mírně klesající trend vývoje hrubé míry porodnosti i věku matek. Z regionálního srovnání vyplynulo, že nadprůměrné hodnoty hrubé míry porodnosti v roce 2020 vykázalo Hlavní město Praha a Jihomoravský kraj, přičemž na počátku sledovaného období v roce 2004 to byl Ústecký kraj a Liberecký kraj. Naopak nejnižší porodnost v roce 2020 vykázal Karlovarský kraj, přičemž v roce 2004 to byl Zlínský kraj. Největší změna z hlediska pořadí krajů byla zaznamenána právě v Ústeckém kraji, neboť na začátku sledovaného období dosahoval první příčky, avšak v roce 2020 poklesl až na předposlední příčku. Nejnižší hodnoty průměrného věku při narození prvního dítěte vykazuje na začátku i na konci časové řady Ústecký kraj, nejvyšší naopak Hlavní město Praha.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis was a statistical analysis of the development of fertility and birth rates in the Czech Republic in the years 2004 - 2020, including an assessment of regional differences. The development of the average age of the mother at the birth of the first child was described by a quadratic trend function and a model of exponential smoothing was chosen for the development of the gross birth rate. As part of the extrapolation of selected time series, the values of both indicators were predicted for the 4 following years. In the near future can be expected decreasing trend in the development of the gross birth rate and the age of mothers as well. The regional comparison showed that the Capital City of Prague and the South Moravian Region has above-average values of the gross birth rate in 2020. At the beginning of the time series in 2004 it was the Ústí nad Labem Region and the Liberec Region. The lowest birth rate in 2020 was shown in the Karlovy Vary region, but in 2004 it was the Zlín region. The biggest change throughout all this period was found in the Ústí nad Labem Region, because at the beginning of the period it had highest values, but in 2020 it had nearly the lowest values compared to other regions. Ústí nad Labem Region showed in 2004 and in 2020 as well the lowest values of the average age at the birth of the first child. On the other hand, Capital City of Prague showed in 2004 and in 2020 as well the highest values of the average age at the birth of the first child.
