Abstract:

Tato práce pojednává o postavení amerických žen ve 30. letech 20. století a o jejich zapojení do druhé světové války. Práce popisuje politicko-ekonomické pozadí dané doby a soustřeďuje se na roli žen v rodině a v pracovním prostředí. Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce je ukázat a analyzovat změny, které americké ženy zažívaly po vstupu Spojených Států do druhé světové války. Během 30. let 20. století společenská role amerických žen stále neposkytovala mnoho příležitostí k získání zaměstnání. Pouze díky hospodářské krizi, která způsobila finanční problémy mnoho rodinám, začaly některé ženy nastupovat do zaměstnání. Avšak až druhá světová válka způsobila vysoký nárůst nových pracovní příležitosti pro ženy ve společnosti i v armádě.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the position of American women in the 1930s and their involvement in the WWII. The paper describes the political and economic background of the 1930s and it focuses on the role of women in the family and in the working environment. The main aim of this thesis is to demonstrate and analyse the changes which American women experienced when the United States got involved in the WWII. During the 1930s, the social role of American women still did not provide enough opportunities to get employed. Only due to the Great Depression which had caused financial problems of many families some women started to enter the working environment. However, it was the WWII which caused the high rise of new working opportunities for women in the civilian labour and in the military.
