The Role of Spain in the Issue of Illegal Immigration Before, During and After the European Refugee Crisis

Abstract:

The object of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the attitudes of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain to the issue of migration. The work focuses on illegal migration and associated migration crisis. Its main objective is to analyze how the illegal migration has affected the country's attitudes to migration policy and how it has been presented at European level. The work will analyze the government's proposed solutions at both national and international levels during the period, as well as the government's statements on the subject. The work will try to answer two research questions: (1) How did Spain approach the various periods of migration, that is, before, during and after the crisis? (2) How has the dynamics of Spanish foreign policy changed in the context of changing governmental parties and leaders?

Abstract:

Cieľom tejto bakalárskej práce je analýza postojov vlády Španielskeho kráľovstva k otázkam migrácie. Práca sa zameriava na nelegálnu migráciu a s ňou spojenú vypuknutú migračnú krízu. Jej hlavným cieľom bude zanalyzovať, ako ovplyvnila nelegálna migrácia postoje krajiny v oblasti migračnej politiky a ako boli tieto prezentované na európskej úrovni. Predmetom skúmania práce budú preto vládou navrhnuté riešenia ako na národnej, tak na medzinárodnej úrovni počas daného obdobia a takisto vyjadrenia vlády týkajúce sa tejto tematiky. Práca sa bude snažiť zodpovedať dve výskumné otázky: (1.) Ako pristupovalo Španielsko k jednotlivým obdobiam migrácie, teda pred vypuknutím krízy, v jej priebehu a aj po jej skončení? (2.) Ako sa menila dynamika španielskej zahraničnej politiky v kontexte meniacich sa vládnych strán a predstaviteľov?
