Tourism Analysis with a focus on the LGBT Segment

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo zhodnotit dostupná data o segmentu LGBT (lesba, gay, bisexuál a transsexuál) v cestovním ruchu a analyzovat současný stav předních organizací v České republice a zahraničí. Stanovil jsem si hypotézu, že v Praze nejsou ubytovací zařízení určené jen pro homosexuální klientelu, kdy nakonec byla tato hypotéza vyvrácena. Teoretická část slouží jako vysvětlení základních pojmů: LGBT, cestovní ruch, cestovní kancelář a agentura se zákonem 159/1999 Sb., který upravuje jejich podnikání. Dále jsem ve stručnosti popsal historii cestovního ruchu a homosexuality, až po jejich současný stav. V analytické části jsem především představil jedinou cestovní kancelář v České republice zaměřenou na analyzovanou klientelu. Krátce jsem také popsal mnoho organizací, ubytovacích zařízení, průvodů hrdosti, nebo zábavních podniků, které jsou orientovány na zmíněný segment. Snažil jsem se najít číselné údaje, které vypovídají o důležitosti této klientely, které jsou ve většině shrnuty v této práci v části „Základní statistiky“. Na konci této části jsem zpracoval SWOT analýzu segmentu LGBT. Poslední část je návrhová, kde jsem doporučil pro naši rodinnou cestovní kancelář vytvoření nového zájezdu do Barcelony a přilehlého města Sitges známého homosexuálním turismem. Dva termíny by byly letecké a jeden autobusovou dopravou. V závěru jsem vyjádřil svůj názor, co dělají, nebo nedělají podniky a destinace cestovního ruchu správně.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to evaluate available data about the segment LGBT (a lesbian, a gay, a bisexual and a transgender) in tourism and analyze the current state of the leading organizations in the Czech Republic as well as abroad. I set the hypothesis that there are not accommodation facilities designed only for gay clientele in Prague, but this hypothesis was finally disproved. The theoretical part explains the basic concepts: LGBT, tourism, a travel agency and an agency with the law 159/1999 coll., which regulates their business. Furthermore, I described briefly the history of tourism and homosexuality until their current status. In the analytical part, I mainly introduced the only travel agency in the Czech Republic which is focused on the analyzed clients. Also, I shortly described many organizations, accommodation facilities, gay pride parades and entertainment venues which are oriented to the mentioned segment. I tried to find numerical data that indicate the importance of this clientele, which are mostly summarized in part of this work "Basic Statistics". In the end of this section, I've compiled the SWOT analysis of the LGBT segment. The last part is the proposal, where I recommended to our family travel agency create a new trip to the Barcelona and to the close city Sitges which is known for the gay tourism. A two terms would be by airplane and one by bus. In conclusion, I expressed my view about what companies and tourism destinations are doing or not doing correctly.
