Práce se zabývala prenatální psychologii, vnímáním a komunikací ještě nenarozeného dítěte s okolím, prožíváním porodu a prostředím porodních pokojů a porodnic. Dílčí kapitoly jsou věnovány i historii porodnictví, psychickým změnám v těhotenství, příkladům z praxe psychologů a důležité roli partnera v těhotenství i při porodu.
