Analysis of long-term changes of erythemal UV solar radiation measured at the SOO Hradec Králové

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce byla rekonstrukce a analýza časové řady erytémového ultrafialového (UV) slunečního záření z Hradce Králové za období 1964–2013. Řada byla rekonstruována na základě naměřených hodnot celkového ozonu, globálního záření, atmosférických aerosolů a odrazivosti zemského povrchu s využitím modelu libRadtran a empirických vztahů. Analyzovaná řada prokázala, že ve studovaném období dávky erytémového UV záření statisticky významně vzrostly, a to zejména v jarním a letním období. V dlouhodobém měřítku měl na nárůst dávek erytémového UV záření vliv pokles celkového ozonu, jehož vliv byl nejvýraznější v 80. a 90. letech 20. století. Krátkodobá variabilita byla způsobena zejména změnami zenitové vzdálenosti Slunce a množství oblačnosti. V průběhu období narůstal i počet dnů s vysokou denní dávkou erytémového UV záření, které byly vysvětleny nízkým množstvím ozonu v atmosféře, malým množstvím oblačnosti a v zimním období i zvýšenou odrazivostí povrchu. Výsledky práce pomohly zpřesnit informace o variabilitě erytémového UV záření i vlivu jednotlivých faktorů v prostoru střední Evropy.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was the reconstruction and analysis of erythemal ultravoiolet (UV) radiation time series from Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, in the period 1964– 2013. The time series reconstruction was based on total ozone column, global solar radiation, atmospheric aerosols and surface albedo measurements using the libRadtran radiative transfer model and additional empirical relationships. The analysis of the time series showed that during the study period the doses of erythemal UV radiation significantly increased, especially in spring and summer. In a long term, total ozone column change was the most important factor affecting the increase of erythemal UV radiation doses. Its effects were most significant in the 1980s and the 1990s. The short-term variability of erythemal UV radiation doses was mailny caused by the changes of solar zenith angle and cloud cover. The number of days with high erythemal UV doses increased during the study period as well. The largest fraction of days with high erythemal UV doses was explained by the effect of low total ozone column under clear or partly cloudy skies. In winter, a large fraction of days with high erythemal UV doses was caused by increased surface albedo. The outcomes of this thesis helped to the better understanding of erythemal UV radiation variability in Central Europe.
