Anotácia:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou stereotypů o latinskoamerické populaci, které se objevují v amerických mediích, zejména ve filmech. Dále zmiňuje jejich dopady. Vysvětluje klíčové procesy odehrávající se v lidské mysli, které se vztahují k tvorbě stereotypů. Zaměřuje se na popis jednotlivých stereotypů o Latinoameričanech, které můžeme najít v historii americké kinematografie. Tyto stereotypy jsou pak srovnávány s realitou a jsou probírány jejich dopady na obyvatelstvo. Zmiňuje také možnosti změny nebo odstranění stereotypů.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the stereotypes about the Latin American population that appear in the U.S. media – especially in films - and the consequences of stereotyping. It explains the key processes of the human mind which are related to the creation of stereotypes. It focuses on the description of the particular stereotypes about Latinos that can be found in the history of the U.S. filmmaking. These stereotypes are compared with reality and are discussed their impacts on population. Moreover, it mentions the possibilities of changing or eliminating the stereotypes. In the last part five contemporary films are analysed.
