Neuropychological strain of nurses working at surgical wards

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit výskyt neuropsychické zátěže u sester na chirurgických odděleních, dále pak objasnit faktory zátěže, zjistit dopad na zdraví sester a pokusit se určit, zda se liší neuropsychická zátěž u sester v předem určených nemocnicích. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 88 sester pracujících ve Fakultní nemocnici v Ostravě a v Šumperské nemocnici. Dotazníkové šetření (prosinec - březen 2008/2009) bylo realizováno standardizovaným dotazníkem W. Meistera - Hodnocení pracovní zátěže. Výsledky: Šetřením bylo zjištěno, že neuropsychická zátěž chirurgických sester na vybraných chirurgických odděleních (chirurgie, ortopedie, urologie a ORL oddělení) ve jmenovaných nemocnicích (Fakultní nemocnice Ostrava a Šumperská nemocnice) se významně neliší. Neuropsychická zátěž dotazovaných byla poměrně vysoká. V obou nemocnicích byly nejhůře hodnoceny faktory přetížení a stresové reakce, nejlépe pak jednostrannost a monotonie při práci. Dále pak bylo zjištěno, že více než polovina sester z Fakultní nemocnice Ostrava přemýšlela o změně oddělení, a to nejčastěji z důvodu vysoké zátěže a stresu při práci, stejně tak jako u sester v Šumperské nemocnici, kde však o změně přemýšlí pouze třetina dotázaných sester. Závěr: Neuropsychická zátěž je důležitým faktorem ovlivňujícím pocit spokojenosti a zdraví při práci. Z výsledku šetření vyplývá, že mezi sledovanými soubory existují v hodnocení neuropsychické zátěže jen minimální rozdíly. Faktor zátěže je však vysoký. Je proto důležité, aby se této problematice věnovalo více pozornosti.

Abstract:

Objective: The aim of this bachelor´s work was to determine the incidence of neuropsychological strain of nurses in the surgical wards, as well as to clarify the load factors, the impact on the health of nurses and then to determine whether neuropsychological strain of nurses differ in two chosen hospitals. Methodology: The research group consisted of 88 nurses working in the Faculty hospital in Ostrava in and the Šumperk hospital. The questionnaire investigation (December - March 2008/2009) was carried out by a W. Meister - standardized questionnaire Evaluation of the workload. Results: The investigation showed that neuropsychological strain of surgical nurses in selected surgical wards (surgery, orthopedics, urology and ENT departments) in the designated hospitals (Faculty Hospital Ostrava and Šumperk Hospital) do not differ significantly. Neuropsychological strain of respondents was relatively high. In both hospitals strain factors and stress response were ranked the worst, and preferably one-sidedness and monotony at work were ranked the least negative of the department. Furthermore, it was found out that more than half of nurses from the Faculty hospital in Ostrava think about the change and the most often due to high load and stress at work. However, in the Šumperk hospital only one third of respondentsconsider changing the department. Conclusion: Neuropsychological strain is an important factor that influences of satisfaction and health at work. There are only minimal differences in the evaluation of neuropsychological strain in two groups of respondents. Load factor is high. It is therefore important to pay this issue more attention.
