Anton Dreher´s export brewery in Žatec

Abstract:

Exportní pivovar Antona Drehera v Žatci je jednou z ikonických staveb města. Pivovar byl postaven v roce 1898 a pivo vyráběl od roku 1902 do roku 1948. Věhlas a dosah pivovaru byly značné a svou cestu započal již v dobách habsburské monarchie. Přestál první i druhou světovou válku, velkou hospodářskou krizi a vydržel až do nástupu socialismu. Výrobky tohoto exportního pivovaru byly velmi oblíbené nejen v Evropě, ale část se dostala i do USA a dalších vzdálených zemí. Práce se zabývá historií exportního pivovaru od jeho založení až po jeho zánik. Je sestavena chronologicky se samostatnými kapitolami pro konkrétní období a v závěru se také věnuje specifickým tématům dopravy, vybavení a speciálních zařízení. Hlavním zdrojem informací je vedle odborné literatury, periodik a kontextové literatury archivní fond Export-pivovar Ant. Dreher s. r. o., Žatec, který se nachází ve Státním oblastním archivu Litoměřice, pracoviště Velebudice. Cílem práce je také objasnění dosud nejasných okolností zániku podniku.

Abstract:

Anton Dreher´s export brewery in Žatec is one of the iconic buildings in this town. Brewery was built in 1898 and made beer since 1902 to 1948. The fame and reach of the brewery was considerable and it began its journey in the times of the Habsburg monarchy. It survived the First and second world wars, the great economics crisis and lasted until advent of socialism. Products of this export-brewery were very popular not only in Europe but some of the products also reached the USA and other distant countries. This work deals with the history of the export-brewery from its foundantion to its demise. The work is compiled chronologically with separate chapters for a specific period, and at the end it also deals with specific topics of transport, equipment and special devices. The main source of information, in addition to specialist literature, periodicals and contextual literature, is the archival fund Export-brewery Ant. Dreher s. r. o., Žatec, which is located in the State regional archive Litoměřice,workplace Velebudice. The aim of the work is also to clarify the still unclear circumstances of the company's demise.
