Biblical phraseology in German and Czech

Abstract:

This thesis examines Biblical phrases and idioms from the viewpoint of their origin, and introduces their equivalents in both Czech and German language. The work is divided in two parts. Theoretical part deals with introduction of phraseology as a linguistic discipline, explanation of phrase as a term, and description of its features. The chapter Contrastive phraseology with various types of equivalency in this part serves as a base for the practical part. Practical part is about the research itself. Selected phrases from German textbooks for foreigners are translated to Czech, and sorted by the type of equivalency. In the end of the thesis, there is the result of research which proves significant resemblance of expressions, based on common Christian tradition of both countries.

Abstract:

Předložená práce popisuje biblické frazémy z hlediska jejich původu a představuje jejich ekvivalenty v českém a německém jazyce. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. Teoretická část se zabývá představením lingvistické disciplíny frazeologie, vysvětlením pojmu frazém a popsání jeho rysů. Podklad pro praktickou část zde tvoří kapitola kontrastivní frazeologie s různými typy ekvivalence. Praktická část se zabývá vlastním výzkumem. Vybrané slovní spojení z německých učebnic pro cizince jsou přeložena do českého jazyka a zařazena dle typu ekvivalence. V závěru se shrnuje výsledek zkoumání, který dokazuje velkou podobnost výrazů na základě společné křesťanské tradice obou zemí.
