Morphology of the French noun: contrastive analysis of the suffixes -age, -ment and -erie

Abstract:

The aim of this master´s thesis is to analyze the morphology of the French nouns which were derived from three suffixes: -age, -ment and -erie. The theoretical part deals with the definition, terminology and classification of the morphology and also with the nouns. Then it describes the processes of creating the new words. It deals with the suffixation and the typology of the suffixes in detail. The part of this thesis is also the methodology and the benefits of corpus data. The practical part comments on interesting French nouns which were gathered from the corpus Est républicain 2. It deals with their productivity and definition in order to compare the words with the same base, doublets and triplets. There´s also the chapter concerning the new words. At the end of the thesis, it comments on the Czech nouns derived from the suffix -áž.

Abstract:

Cílem této magisterské diplomové práce je zkoumat morfologii francouzských podstatných jmen odvozených od třech sufixů: -age, -ment a -erie. V teoretické části se práce zabývá jednak definicí, terminologii a klasifikací morfologie, tak i podstatnými jmény. Následně se zaměřuje na procesy, které umožňují vznik nových slov. Podrobněji se pak zabývá sufixací a typologií sufixů. Součástí práce je také metodologie a přínos použitých korpusů. V praktické části zkoumá francouzská podstatná jména odvozená od třech výše zmíněných sufixů z korpusu Est républicain 2, jejich produktivitu i význam a následné porovnává slova se stejným základem, tzv. dublety a triplety. Následuje kapitola věnovaná neologizmům. V závěru se zabývá přenosem sufixu -age do češtiny.
