Design of cold crucible for TiAl melting

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá principem a postupem při tavbě ve studeném kelímku. Práce je zaměřena především na tavení elektricky vodivých, okrajově i nevodivých materiálů. V první části jsou uvedeny základní obecné poznatky o technologii. Další část se věnuje popisu konstrukčního provedení jednotlivých částí tavící pece společně s procesem tavby samotné. Následně je proveden návrh pece pro reaktivní titanové slitiny s ohledem na elektromagnetické i teplotní pole. Závěrem jsou zde zpracována porovnání s již provedenými tavbami, což umožňuje ověřit správnost navrhovaného řešení.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is dealing with the principle and the procedure of the cold crucible induction melting technology. The paper is focused mainly on melting of the electrically conductive, marginally also non-conductive, materials. The first part presents common basic information about the technology. The next part is devoted to a description of the design of individual parts of the furnace along with the description of the melting process itself. Subsequently, a design of the furnace construction is conducted for reactive titanium alloys with respect to electromagnetic and temperature fields. In the final part, it is compiled a comparison with already performed melting processes, which allows verification of the correctness of the proposed solution.
