V diplomové práci je stručně nastíněn vznik knižní kultury a knihtisku od 14. století až po raný novověk. Práce přináší přehled o knížkách lidového čtení v Německu, jejich historii a vzniku, zejména pak těchto knih, které se zabývají postavou, životem a osudem Fausta, který se upsal ďáblu.
