Seniors behind the driving wheel

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce bylo popsat životní cestu seniorů jako řidičů a zjistit náhled seniorů na změny v dopravě, které se udály v průběhu jejich kariéry. Základem úvodní kapitoly teoretické části práce bylo vymezení pojmů senior a stárnutí a její doplnění o potřeby seniorů. Další kapitola se věnovala demografickému stárnutí a změnám prostředí a přinesla pojmy kvalita života, životní styl a aktivní stáří. Následující kapitola se věnovala seniorům jako řidičům, nárokům na seniory řidiče a seniorům za volantem. Pro naplnění cíle a zodpovězení výzkumných otázek byla zvolena kvalitativní metoda výzkumu s technikou polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Data byla zpracována pomocí zakotvené teorie. Respondenty byli senioři s jednotným pohybovým omezením, kteří v seniorském věku řídí automobil. Cílem analýzy výzkumného šetření bylo získat odpověď na výzkumné otázky: Jak vnímají řidiči senioři změny v dopravě, které se udály během doby, co řídí? Jak reflektují řidiči senioři výhody a nevýhody řízení v seniorském věku? Co řidičům seniorům pomáhá ohledně schopností při řízení automobilu?

Abstract:

The goal of this dissertation is to describe life journey of senior citizens as drivers and to gain perspective to changes in traffic, that happened during their career. The basic concepts of the theoretical part of the dissertation were defining the term pensioners and ageing and its addition to the needs of pensioners. Next chapter is devoted to demographic ageing and environmental change and called out concepts of quality of life, lifestyle and active ageing. The following chapter is devoted to pensioners as drivers, the demands on pensioner drivers and pensioners behind the driving wheel. In order to achieve objectives and answer the research questions the qualitative method of semi-structured interview was chosen. The data were processed using grounded theory. The respondents were pensioners with same movement restriction who are a car drivers in senior age. The aim of the research analysis was to get an answer to the research questions: How do pensioner drivers perceive the changes in traffic that occurred they driving experience? How do retiree drivers reflect the pros and cons of driving in old age? What helps aged drivers with driving skills?
