The Reflection of the First World War in the Chronicles of the Kutná Hora District

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá situací v Kutné Hoře a okolí za první světové války. Seznamuje s dějinami Kutnohorska a s celkovým průběhem války v této oblasti. Na základě svědectví obecních a městských kronik předkládá popis regionu ve válečných letech 19141918. Tento pohled konfrontuje se záznamy ze školních kronik pro dokreslení dobové reality. Zajímavým doplněním je také deník českého vojáka a posléze ruského legionáře Josefa Viktory, který jako ego dokument poskytuje k některým otázkám nový subjektivní pohled. Cílem práce je zachytit na základě oficiálních pramenů konkrétní situaci regionu v období 1. světové války.

Abstract:

The study deals with the situation during the First World War in Kutna Hora and its surroundings. Following with familiarization with history of Kutna Hora and the overall course of the war in the area. The description of the region during the war years 1914-1918 is based on testimonies of municipal and town chronicles. This view confronts the records of school chronicles to illustrate reality. An interesting addition is also the diary of the Czech soldier who later became the Russian legionnaire Josef Viktora. His ego document provides a new subjective view on some issues. The purpose of the thesis is to capture the specific situation of the region during the World War I, using official sources.
