Impact of remediation on development of phenols, benzene, benzo(a)pyrene, naphtalene and NES pollution in groundwater in the area of Ostrava - Karolina

Abstract:

Smyslem této práce bylo zhodnotit sanaci a její vliv na koncentrace organických polutantů v podzemní vodě, které vznikly z bývalých průmyslových aktivit a vytvořily tak podmínky pro vznik staré ekologické zátěže. Z režimního a post-sanačního monitoringu podzemních vod v areálu Karolina a jejím okolí jsem získala informace o stavu a dynamice hlavních organických kontaminantů v ekosystému. Práce je rozdělena do pěti částí. Pátá část, dokumentující vliv sanace na režim a chemismus podzemních vod, je těžištěm a hlavním výsledkem mé práce. Časové vývoje koncentrací dílčích kontaminantů v období 1997 až 2008 jsem vyhodnotila v grafech, tabulkách a mapách a následně popsala. Pátá část zahrnuje veškeré prokázané informace o transportu kontaminačních mraků v areálu Karolina a jeho blízkém okolí, které výrazně znehodnocovaly kvalitu podzemních vod. V této části upřesňuji dosud známé interpretace dané problematiky a shrnuji výsledky provedených dosud nepublikovaných průzkumných prací o monitoringu podzemních vod. Získané poznatky mé práce o vlivu sanace na vývoj znečištění polutanty v podzemní vodě na lokalitě Karolina mohou sloužit k vypracování detailní představy o budoucím využívání území poznamenaném průmyslovou činností bez rizika ohrožení zdraví obyvatel, ohrožení povrchových a podzemních vod a dalších složek životního prostředí.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to assess the area?s remediation and its impact on the concentration of organic pollutants in groundwater, that was caused by past industrial activities and created favorable conditions for old ecological burden. The information on the condition and dynamics of major organic contaminants in the ecosystem was received from Regime and post-remediation monitoring of groundwater in the area of Karolina and its neighbourhood provided . The thesis is divided into five sections. The fifth section, familiar interpretations of the issue mentioned are specified, and the results of completed but unpublished research studies on groundwater monitoring are summarised. This section showing the effects of remediation on groundwater regime and chemism represents the focus and key result of the thesis. The chronological development of the concentration of particular contaminants in the 1997-2008 period is shown in graphs, tables and maps and subsequently described. The fifth section includes all proven information on the transport of contamination clouds in the Karolina area and its vicinity that substantially devalued groundwater quality. The findings on remediation impact on the development of groundwater pollution in the Karolina locality, that are presented in this thesis, may be used in a detailed conception of the use of territories affected by industrial activities without harmful effects on the health of local inhabitants, the quality of surface water and groundwater or other elements of the environment.
