Corruption Act in Context with Theories of moral Judgment

Abstract:

Práce vychází z teorie E. Turiela spočívající v rozdělení sociálních situací a pravidel do domény morální a sociálně-konvenční. Výzkumné otázky práce spočívají ve zkoumání vztahu mezi mírou interpretace korupční situace jako konvenční a tendencí dopustit se korupčního jednání, popř. měnit pod vlivem změny sociálních poměrů svůj názor na ochotu dopustit se korupčního jednání. Výsledky výzkumu potvrdily, že lidé, kteří vykáží ochotu dopustit se korupčního jednání, interpretují takovou situaci ve větší míře s použitím konvenčních argumentů než ti, kteří korupci odmítají. Výsledky výzkumu potvrdily pouze částečně vztah mezi interpretací korupční situace jako konvenční a tendencí změnit pod vlivem změny okolností názor. Respondenti, kteří pod vlivem změny pravidla či změny názoru autority změnili svůj názor na ochotu dopustit se korupčního jednání, tuto změnu názoru vysvětlovali v drtivé většině pomocí konvenčních argumentů. Avšak míra konvenční argumentace při jejich interpretaci základní situace, tedy situace s ještě nezměněnými podmínkami, byla přibližně stejná, jako u lidí, kteří názor nezměnili.

Abstract:

This research work takes its theoretical background mainly from Turiel's social-cognitive domain theory. This theory consists of distinction of social situations and rules into two domains – moral and social-conventional. Research questions examine the relation between the interpretation of a corruption situation as conventional and the willingness to perform a corruption act, or the willingness to change an opinion of the corruption situation, if social conditions change. The results confirm people, who show the willingness to perform corruption act, interpret the situation as conventional more than people, who refuse corruption. The results confirm the relation between interpretation of a corruption situation as conventional and the downtrend to change opinion of that under changed social circumstances only in part. The respondents, who changed their opinion under influence of rule-change or authority attitude-change, used conventional arguments only for explanation of the change of opinion. When they judged corruption situation before the change, they used conventional arguments in the same extent like the respondents, who did not change their opinion.
