Concept of Anarchy in International Relations through the prism of critical theories

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá konceptem anarchie ve smyslu neexistence centrální vlády v mezinárodním prostředí. Zkoumá její pojetí organizačního principu ve dvou základních teoretických směrech v oboru: realismu a liberalismu, včetně inspirujících filosofií. Z každého směru vybírá reprezentativní autory, kteří se konceptem nejvíce zabývali a nejvýrazněji jej ovlivnili. Jejich teoretické texty podrobuje dekonstrukci, odhaluje jejich mezery, skryté významy, nepodložené konstrukty a nepravdivá tvrzení. Dekonstruovaný text je pak zkoumán optikou feministických teorií. Bakalářská práce využívá nestandardního úhlu pohledu, jenž feminismus nabízí, k prozkoumání dopadů mainstreamového přístupu k anarchii. Práce odhaluje, jak se mění původní charakteristika anarchie v jednotlivých teoretických dílech, jaké jsou důsledky těchto modifikací a co z nich vyplývá pro mezinárodní prostředí.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the concept of anarchy as an absence of the central government in international environment. It focuses on the anarchy as an organizational principle in two main theoretical schools: realism and liberalism, including inspirational philosophies. It examines authors from each school, who influenced the concept the most. In this thesis deconstruction is used for uncovering contents of each writing and revealing weak constructions. After deconstruction claims are examined through feminist standpoint. It reveals that masculine hierarchy is prefered at the expense of feminine anarchy. Feminism reveals that the concept of anarchy is often used for strengthening present system, which also means strengthening gender and postcolonial inequality. For utility of this concept transformation of its viewing is needed.
