Abstract:

Tématem práce je náměstí Svobody v Brně a jeho proměny v průběhu 20. století. Jednotlivé kapitoly se zaměřují na architekturu náměstí v rámci několika dějinných etap vývoje města, na národnostní strukturu obyvatel a jejich vzájemné vztahy, dále na náměstí jako veřejný prostor a s ním spojené aktivity a události. V neposlední řadě je zde představena reflexe místa v literatuře a výtvarném umění. Cílem práce je propojit informace z těchto jednotlivých odvětví do souvislého celku a sumarizovat vývoj a proměny náměstí Svobody v uplynulém století.

Abstract:

The theme of this master's thesis is the Square of Liberty in Brno and its changes during the 20th century. Individual chapters focus on the architecture of the square within several historical stages of the city's development, on the national structure of the population and their mutual relations, as well as on the square as a public space and related activities and events. Last but not least, a reflection of the place in literature and fine arts is presented. The aim of this work is to interconnect information from these individual branches into a coherent whole and summarize the development and transformations of the Square of Liberty in the last century.
