Using of reminiscence therapy for keeping of communication skills of people suffering from dementia

Anotácia:

Téma bakalářské práce je Využití reminiscenční terapie pro udržení komunikačního potenciálu u osob s demencí. Práce se skládá ze čtyř kapitol. První, druhá a třetí kapitola obsahuje teoretická východiska pro zpracování části praktické. Zabývá se tématy jako projevy stáří, komunikační obtíže u osob v pokročilém věku a aktuálními trendy v péči o seniory, včetně reminiscenční terapie. Čtvrtá kapitola obsahuje výzkum. Jeho hlavním cílem je analyzovat využití reminiscenční terapie u osob s demencí se zřetelem na jejich komunikační schopnost. Na realizaci výzkumu se podíleli čtyři klienti s kognitivně komunikační poruchou, kteří byli sledování v průběhu reminiscenčních terapií. Pozorování se soustředilo primárně na komunikační schopnost těchto klientů a také na interakci mezi nimi a pracovnicí, která s nimi terapie provádí. Také byl veden polostrukturovaný rozhovor s touto pracovnicí, který zjišťoval její názory a zkušenosti v této oblasti.

Abstract:

The theme of this Master´s thesis is utilization of reminiscence therapy to maintain communication skills of people suffering from dementia. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first, the second and the third chapters contain theoretical information important for implementation of the practical part of thesis. They are engaged in typical manifestations of old age, individual types of dementia, communication difficulties of older people and current trends in elderly care including the reminiscence therapy. The fourth chapter contains research. Its main purpose is to investigate positive contribution of reminiscence therapy for communication abilities of people suffering from dementia. Four clients with cognitive communication impairment were observed during the reminiscence therapy. The observation focused primarily on the communication abilities of these clients and also on interaction between them and their social worker who regularly makes the therapy. A semi-structured interview with this social worker was also carried out, by which her opinions and experiences in this area were investigated there.
