Is EU Hegemony?

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou postavení Evropské unie v mezinárodním ekonomickém prostředí. Cílem předložené práce je zodpovězení otázky, zda se EU v současném mezinárodním ekonomickém systému nachází v pozici hegemona. Základní koncept práce vychází z teorie hegemonní stability, které je věnována první kapitola. Předmětem druhé kapitoly je posouzení postavení EU v mezinárodním ekonomickém a politickém prostředí. Cílem třetí kapitoly je posouzení EU z hlediska hegemonie, a to pomocí kvantifikovatelných ukazatelů, primárně vycházejících z Krasnerovy definice hegemonie.

Abstract:

This thesis looks at the position of the European Union within an international economic context. The stated aim of this thesis is to answer the question; Does the position of the EU in today’s international economic system constitute that of a hegemony? The basic concept arises from the theory of hegemonic stability, which the first chapter looks at. The Second chapter considers the position of the EU in an international economic and political context. The third chapter attempts to define the EU in terms of a hegemony, within the qualifying parameters of Krasner’s definition of a hegemony.
