Abstract:

Ghana zaznamenala během posledních třiceti let působivý růst v zemědělství, průmyslu a službách. V Ghaně zaujímá obchodní politika, mezi ostatními oblastmi politiky, jedinečné místo při utváření prostředí, ve kterém společnosti zakládají a provozují své podnikání. Obchodní odvětví Ghany se řídí čtyřmi hlavními pilíři; Světovou obchodní organizací (WTO), dohodami o hospodářském partnerství, Zákonem o růstu a příležitostech v Africe (AGOA) a Hospodářským společenstvín států západní Afriky (ECOWAS). Ghana benefituje z mezinárodního obchodu různými způsoby, jako jsou zvýšené příjmy, manipulace s přebytečným zbožím, atd. Tato práce se snaží diskutovat o politikách mezinárodního obchodu ovlivňujících Ghanu a o reakcích společností na jejich změny. Tento výzkum využívá kvalitativního a kvantitativního přístupu ke zjištění, jak společnosti spolupracují se svými mezinárodními partnery. Zjištění tohoto výzkumu ukazují nedostatečnou informovanost o obchodní politice, a další zjištěné faktory ukazují na problém, proč se mnoho společností nezabývá zahraničním obchodem.

Abstract:

Ghana has experienced an impressive economic growth for the past three decades in the agricultural, industrial and service sector. In Ghana, trade policies occupy a unique place among other policy domains in shaping the environment in which companies establish and operate their businesses. Ghana's trade sector is governed by four main agreements which include World Trade Organization (WTO), Economic Partnership Agreements, African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), and The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Ghana has benefited from international trade in various ways such as increased revenues, disposal of surplus goods etc. This thesis seeks to discuss international trade policies affecting Ghana and the reactions of business on their amendments. This research uses qualitative and quantitative approach to find out how companies operate with their international partners. Findings from this research show a lack of awareness about the trade policy and other factors identified are the issue why many businesses do not engage in foreign trade.
