Workers and clients of the Probation and mediation service between help and control

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je zodpovědět hlavní výzkumnou otázku: „Co podle pracovníků a klientů Probační a mediační služby ČR podporuje a co brání rovnováze mezi pomocí a kontrolou?“ Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí – teoretické a empirické. V teoretické jsou představeny poslání a cíle sociální práce, koncepty retributivní a restorativní justice, působnost a činnost Probační a mediační služby ČR a zároveň, kdo je pracovník a klient PMS ČR. Vymezeny jsou i pojmy pomoc a kontrola a to především z pohledu systemického přístupu, dále pak i pojem rovnováha mezi pomocí a kontrolou. Vysvětleny jsou i pojmy podporovat a bránit. V empirické části je pak popsaná metodika výzkumu a zjištěná data jsou následně interpretována pomocí dílčích výzkumných otázek. Formou polo-strukturovaného rozhovoru byly zjišťovány faktory, které dle pracovníků a klientů PMS podporují či brání dosahování rovnováhy mezi pomocí a kontrolou. Výsledkem výzkumu je mimo jiné zjištění, že dosahování rovnováhy mezi pomocí a kontrolou brání nedostatek času a arogantní chování pracovníků a naopak podporuje přátelský vztah mezi pracovníkem a klientem založený na důvěře a akceptaci.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to answer the main question: „What, according to the workers and clients of Probation and mediation service of the Czech Republic, supports and what obstructs the balance between help and control?“ The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part presents the mission and aims of social work, the concepts of retributive and restorative justice, scope of activity of the Probation and mediation service of the Czech Republic and also who is the worker and the client of the PMS CZ. There are defined terms as help and control as well, mainly from the perspective of systemic approach, and also the term balance between help and control. Clarified are also terms as to support and to obstruct. In the empirical part the research methodology is described and the obtained data are interpreted by specific research questions. The factors, which according to the workers and clients of PMS support or obstruct the balance between help and control, are found out by semi-structured interviews. The one of the results of the research is for instance that reaching balance between help and control is obstructed by the shortage of time and arrogant behaviour of the workers and on the other hand, the balance is supported by friendly relationship between the worker and the client, which is based on trust and acceptation.
