Abstract:

Lidské tlo je bilateráln symetrické podle mediosagitální roviny. Základy bilaterální symetrie jsou pozorovatelné již u embrya ve stadiu zárodeného teríku. Vztah pravé a levé strany tla se oznauje jako lateralita. Párové orgány nejsou ale dokonale symetrické, vyznaují se uritou velikostní, tvarovou a funkní nesoumrností. Nejznámjší funkní nesoumrnost se projevuje v používání rukou. Pibližn 90% lidí preferuje pi vtšin úkon pravou ruku, 10% lidí levou ruku. V prbhu historie byly preference rukou hodnoceny na základ rzných kritérií, výsledná data nebyla vždy jednoznaná a pravdivá. V druhé polovin 20. století byly vytvoeny pesnjší metodiky, které pináší spolehlivjší výsledky. Výskyt preferencí rukou se ale nemže omezit pouze na kategorii pravák a levák, ve skutenosti v populaci existuje mnoho pechodných forem. Vtšina kultur považovala levorukost za nco negativního, levoruké dti byly asto nuceny nauit se používat pravou ruku. Dkazem toho, že levorukost nepedstavuje žádné omezení, je mnoho slavných lidí nap. z oblasti vdy, umní a sportu, kteí vynikali ve svém oboru, pestože byli levorucí. Preference rukou jsou zaznamenány i u nkterých druh primát. Další stranové preference se týkají funkce nohou, oí a uší. U nohou se rozlišuje noha odrazová a noha švihová. Oní dominance je dvojího typu. Pi monokulárním vidní se dominantní oko oznauje jako zamovací, pi binokulárním vidní se dominantní oko nazývá ídící. Preference uší závisí na druhu zvuku. U 80% populace je pravé ucho preferováno pi identifikaci verbálních zvuk a levé ucho pi identifikaci zvuk neverbální povahy (hudba, rytmické zvuky z prostedí apod.).

Abstract:

Two main types of symmetry exist among organisms in the nature: radial symmetry and bilateral symmetry. Deviations of perfect symmetry are called asymmetries. There are three types of asymmetry, each characterized by a different combination of mean and variance of the distribution of right-minus-left (R L) differences: antisymmetry, directional asymmetry and fluctuating asymmetry. Humans body is bilaterally symmetrical. Relation between the left and right side of bilaterally organized individuals is called laterality. Laterality is evaluated as a qualitative or quantitative feature. Funtional and morfological asymmetries of limbs and sense organs are connected with cerebral lateralization. The best known type of laterality is handedness. It means the preferential use of one hand as compared to its contralateral homolog in some activities. Estimates of the number of right-handers in the population are around 90%. Approximately 10% of people are left-handers. Rarely also ambidexterity appears in the population. In many societies, use of the left hand for activities such as eating or writing has been considered impolite. Hand preference is registered also among any species of primates (Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii, Cebus apella, Pongo pygmaeus). Although everyone probably knows about the existence of handedness, most people are unaware of the fact that it is just one aspect of a group of lateral biases. Humans also show sidedness in the use of foot (footedness), eye (eyedness) and ear (earedness). One foot is stronger, the other is more skilful. Two types of eye dominance are distinguished. Dominant eye in monookular sighting is called sighting eye, dominant eye in binokular sighting is named controlling eye. Also funtion of both ears is not equal. By 80% people right ear is prefered by identification verbal sounds and left ear by identification nonverbal sounds (ej. music, rhytmical sounds) Limb bone bilateral asymmetries reflect handedness and footedness. Directional asymmetry in skeletal macro- and micro-morfology is a consequence of behavioural laterality. Humans are unique among primates in the magnitude of directional bilateral asymmetry exhibited in both size and function of the upper limbs, favoring the right side. Some evidence for much smaller but systematic directional asymmetry favoring the left side has been reported in the human lower limb.
