Literary analysis and interpretation of Daniel Glattauer´s novel "Love virtually" and his theatre adaptation in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the novel Love virtually written by an Austrian writer Daniel Glattauer. Because this novel is written in e-mails, it follows the tradition of epistolary novels. Firstly this thesis will define the term epistolary novel and then it will focus on the literary analysis of the main characters and the communication between them. During the analysis the author reveal the real and unreal world, in which the two characters occur. This bachelor thesis also depicts the adaptation of South Bohemian Theatre and describes the theatrical version of the novel, representation of the main characters and their communication within the play.

Abstract:

Autorka se ve své práci zabývá románem v e-mailech rakouského autora Daniela Glattauera Dobrý proti severáku, který navazuje na tradici epistolárních románů. Autorka nejdříve definuje pojem epistolární román a poté se věnuje literární analýze románu, kterou věnuje hlavně hlavním postavám a jejich komunikaci. Během analýzy autorka naráží na skutečný a neskutečný svět, ve kterém se oba hrdinové nacházejí a který se snaží práce porovnat. Práce se též zabývá adaptací Jihočeského divadla a popisuje divadelní ztvárnění románu, znázornění hrdinů a jejich komunikace a srovnává román s divadelní adaptací.
