The Hypertext Technologies in Preparing of Future Teachers - The Role of ICT in Preparing to E-learning

Anotace:

Práce se zabývá významem informatiky a výpočetní techniky v úspěšné implementaci nejvýznamnější hypertextové technologie vzdělávání - e-learningu. Tato technologie je náročná nejenom pro učitele, ale i pro studenty, kteří si musí osvojit kromě požadovaných vědomostí a dovedností z studovaného oboru ještě další vědomosti a dovednosti z informatiky a výpočetní techniky. Vědomi toho, že bez informačních a komunikačních technologií si již nelze představit soudobé vysokoškolské vzdělávání, připravovali jsme již léta studenty Pedagogické fakulty Masarykovy univerzity na úspěšný život s výpočetní technikou. Je nutno podotknout, že všichni studenti naší fakulty, v učitelském i neučitelském studiu jsou studenti neinformatického zaměření - žádná z informatických disciplín není v jejich oboru dominující. Příprava těchto studentů byla proto pojata utilitaristicky - podle toho, jakého stupně informatické gramotnosti k nám studenti přicházeli, volili jsme metody, postupy i organizační formy jejich "doškolení" tak, aby úspěšně zvládali využívat počítače jako pomocníka budoucího učitele. Učili se nejenom elektronicky organizovat svoje studium, ale i vytvářet dokumenty, zpracovávat svoje dílčí výzkumné údaje či vytvořit přípravu pro svoje vyučování. S nástupem fenoménu e-learningu došlo ke kvalitativnímu posunu v nárocích na informatickou gramotnost uživatelů i tvůrců této technologie. Pojednou prudce, téměř skokově, zesílil význam znalostí principů služeb sítě Internet a navazujících tematických celků z oblasti informatiky a výpočetní techniky, definovaných v mezinárodních standardech informatické gramotnosti, zejména ECDL. Tyto znalosti jsou velice důležité proto, aby jak student, tak pedagog poznal možnosti i limity tak silné hypertextové technologie, jakou je e-learning. Protože Pedagogická fakulta Masarykovy univerzity připravuje převážně učitele nejrůznějších typů škol, musí každý student vnímat fenomén e-learningu nejenom z pozice studenta, ale i právě z pozice budoucího učitele. Nedokonalé vědomosti i dovednosti z elementárních tematických celků informatiky a výpočetní techniky se stávají brzdou využití jakékoli vzdělávací technologie, která má základ v používání výpočetní techniky. Vědomi tohoto principu jsme provedli čtyři simultánní, poměrně rozsáhlá a dlouhodobá výzkumná šetření - test dosavadních vědomostí o síti Internet v základních souvislostech, dále pak na stejném vzorku respondentů screening postojů k vybraným celkům informatiky a výpočetní techniky i k možnosti využití e-learningu ve studiu i tvůrčí praxi. Účinnost jednotlivých e-learningových technologií a vliv specifické aplikace - Learning Management Systemu (LMS) na proces e-learningu prověřil experiment – výuka založená v obou případech na e-learningu, avšak zcela odlišným způsobem a s využitím rozdílných technologií (bez LMS a s využitím LMS). Vlastní práci a názory studentů pak završilo kvalitativní šetření při procesu výuky se standardním LMS Moodle. Na základě výsledků výzkumných šetření jsme vytvořili návrh systému předmětů inovované informatické přípravy studentů učitelských specializací neinformatického zaměření tak, aby se mohli stát úspěšnými e-learningovými studenty, ale v budoucnu i e-learningovými učiteli. Vzhledem k možnostem, které dává stále se rozvíjející svět informatiky, není dosažení kvalitní úrovně elektronického vzdělávání utopií. Tuto kvalitu však mohou dosáhnout, udržet i rozvíjet pouze informaticky gramotní a dobře připravení učitelé. Ti v budoucnu vzejdou i z našich studentů.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the importance of informatics and IT technology for the implementation of the most significant hypertext technology in the sphere of education – e-learning. This technology is demanding not only for the teachers, but also for the students who, apart from the required skills and knowledge of the chosen field of study, need also to acquire other skills from the informatics and IT technology fields. We have been preparing the students of the Faculty of Education of the Brno Masaryk University for a successful life with IT technology for a number of years because we are well aware that the information and communication technologies are quite indispensable for the present university education. It must be also emphasized that all the students at the faculty of both teaching-oriented and non-pedagogical study programmes do not have any specialization in informatics; none of the disciplines of informatics is dominant in their fields of study. The preparation of the students has been conceived in a utilitarian fashion. Various methods, procedures and organizational forms of training were selected according to the level of computer skills of the students accepted to the faculty in order to make them prepared for using computers as a utility of future teachers. The training involved an electronic organization of their studies, creation of documents, processing of their partial research data or a preparation of a lesson. The introduction of the e-learning phenomenon has brought a qualitative shift in the requirements for computer skills of the users and original creators of the technology. Suddenly, within an extremely short period of time, being aware of how Internet works and consequently the knowledge of informatics thematic groups, which are defined in the international standards of computer skills called the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), have become very important. This knowledge makes students and teachers aware of the opportunities and limits of a strong hypertext technology of e-learning. Due to the fact that the Faculty of Education of the Masaryk University prepares predominantly students who are going to become teachers in various types of schools, every student must view the e-learning phenomenon not only from the perspective of a student but especially from the position of a teacher. Incomplete knowledge and skills in elementary informatics and IT thematic groups slows down the use of any IT-based technology designed for educational purposes. Being aware of this principle, we have organized the following relatively extensive simultaneous examinations: Test of existing elementary knowledge about the Internet, screening of approaches towards selected informatics and IT fields and towards the possibility of e-learning utilization in studies and its practical use in creative activities (all tests have been performed on the same test sample of participants). The efficiency of individual e-learning technologies and the impact of a specific software application – Learning Management System (LMS) – on the e-learning process was tested experimentally (teaching based on e-learning in two cases but with the use of different technologies – with the LMS and without it). The actual work and opinions of the students were rounded off by a qualitative examination during the lessons which employed the standard version of the LMS Moodle software. Based on the results of the research examinations we have created a proposal for a system of subjects of an upgraded preparation in the field of informatics of teaching-oriented programmes of non-informatics specializations in order to make the students prepared for their e-learning experience as students and future e-learning teachers. If the opportunities offered by the quickly developing world of informatics are considered, the achievement of a high-quality of electronic learning and education is by no means a utopia. This quality can, however, be achieved,

developed and maintained only by well prepared teachers with good computer skills. For the future, such capable teachers will be coming also from our faculty.
