Macroscopic differences of the butchered body of domestic rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus f. domesticus) and domestic cat (Felis silvestris f. catus).

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca sa venuje anatomickému porovnaniu jatočne opracovaného tela králika a mačky. Cieľom práce bolo poukázať na odlišnosti týchto dvoch druhov, ktoré sa pri jatočnom spracovaní veľmi podobajú. Vedľajším cieľom bolo poskytnúť spotrebiteľský návod na rozoznanie týchto dvoch živočíchov od seba. Porovnávané boli určené štruktúry tela oboch živočíchov. Najvýznamnejší rozdiel bol zistený pri dĺžke hrudnej kosti (sternum), kde sternum u mačky tvorí približne 37% z celkovej dĺžky jatočne opracovaného tela, zatiaľ čo u králika tento pomer odpovedá približne len 26,2% z celej dĺžky jatočne opracovaného tela. Ďalším signifikantným rozdielom boli rozmery panvy. Dĺžka panvy mačky v priemere dosahovala 81,7 milimetra, pričom u králika bola táto hodnota o takmer dva centimetre väčšia a to 101,3 milimetra, čo je rozdiel o 24%. Šírka panvy mačky dosahovala v priemere hodnotu 69,2 milimetra. Táto istá hodnota u králika dosahovala v priemere 86,1 milimetra, čo tvorí rozdiel až 24,6%.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the anatomical comparison of the carcass of a rabbit and a cat. The aim of the work was to highlight the differences between these two species, which are very similar when processed for meat. A secondary goal was to provide a consumer guide for distinguishing these two animals from each other. Specific body structures of both animals were compared. The most significant difference was found in the length of the sternum, where the sternum in cats makes up approximately 37% of the total length of the processed carcass, while in rabbits this ratio corresponds to only about 26.2% of the total carcass length. Another significant difference was found in the dimensions of the pelvis. The average pelvic length in cats reached 81.7 millimeters, while in rabbits this value was nearly two centimeters longer, measuring 101.3 millimeters a difference of 24%. The average pelvic width in cats was 69.2 millimeters. In rabbits, the same value averaged 86.1 millimeters, which represents a difference of up to 24.6%.
