Modelling of biotic indices in river networks

Abstract:

V této diplomové práci se věnuji problematice prostorového modelování biotických proměnných v říční síti České republiky. V prostorovém modelování v říčních sítích je důležité zahrnout specifický směr a vzdálenost, což znamená, že místo často používané Euklidovské vzdálenosti by se měla využít říční vzdálenost. Abiotické proměnné mají navíc přinést další informace a zpřesnit tak modelování. Prostorové modelování využívá princip autokorelace, kterou bych měla ve své práci využít. Cílem této práce je popsat využití prostorového modelování, především metody krigingu a jeho modifikací. Neméně důležité je popsat metodiku důležitou pro celou diplomovou práci. Dalším cílem je aplikovat teoretické znalosti na prostorové modelování biotických indexů a na specifickou říční síť. Důležité je vybrat nejvhodnější abiotické proměnné pro modelování na reálných datech a objasnit tento výběr. Základní geostatistické modely použité na reálných datech ČR jsou kriging a jeho modifikace regresní kriging. Oba se mají srovnávat s jednorozměrnou i vícerozměrnou lineární regresí. Závěr diplomové práce by měl určit nejvhodnější geostatistické modely, určit jejich přesnost a objasnit důvody, proč jsou právě tyto metody nejvhodnější. Za nejvhodnější metodu prostorového modelování v říčních sítích lze považovat regresní kriging, ale pouze v případě pokud jsou k dispozici statisticky a biologicky vhodné prediktory. Výběr nejlepších prediktorů je nesnadný úkol. Přesnost predikce je potřeba vytvořit podle potřeb vybrané cílové proměnné. Biotické indexy (např. saprobní index) přinášejí do modelování podstatnou informaci, která je dále využitelná v praxi. Jako nejlepší model saprobního indexu je považován model s prediktory nadmořská výška, dva typy landuse a srážky. Tento model saprobního indexu predikuje z 83% správnou třídu.

Abstract:

In this thesis I am dealing with the issues of spatial modeling of biotic variables in the river network, which has a specific direction and river distance. It is crucial to include these specifics into the model, which means that we need to use river distance instead of often used Euclidean distance. New information should be obtained with abiotic variables and thus precise the modeling. Special modeling utilizes the principle of autocorrelation which I should try in my work. The aim of this thesis is to describe usage of spatial modeling especially kriging method and its modifications. Just as important is to describe the methodology, which is significant for the whole thesis. Another aim is to apply theoretical knowledge on spatial modeling of biotic indeces and on the specific river network. It is essential to choose the most appropriate abiotic variables for modeling on actual data and to clarify this choice. Fundamental geostatistical models should be kriging and its modification – regression-kriging which shall be used on actual data of the Czech Republic. Both should be compared with one-dimensional and multiple linear regression. The conclusion of my thesis should determine the most appropriate geostatistical models, their accuracy and clarify the reasons why they are stated as the most suitable methods Regression-kriging can be considered as the most appropriate method for spatial modeling in river networks only if suitable statistical and biological predictors are available. The selection of the best predictors is an uneasy task. The accuracy of prediction needs to be created according to the needs of chosen target variable. Biotic indeces (for example saprobic index) bring into the modeling new information which is further usable in practice. Model of saprobic index with predictors (altitude, two types of landuse and downfall) can be consider the best model of modeling. For this model prediction of saprobic index is right from 83%.
