Ethical issues in tourism-related cultural differences tourists and possibilities of their prevention

Abstract:

Bachelor's thesis deals with ethical problems in tourist industry that concern the cultural differences of Jewish clients and the ways to deal with them. The ain of the thesis is the analysis of the tourism industry with particular aim at Jewish tourists and to point out the specifics of this culture when creating the products and providing services for them. First is the theoretical and methodology part that brings in the basic terms that are co-related with ethics, values and value orientation in different cultures, also affected by religion among other factors. The second part is analytical. It analyses the history and the evolution of the jewish culture, their habits and traditions. The analysis by the kosher hotel King David in Prague as well as with the help of interviews the thesis compares the specific needs of Jewish clients in tourist industry while concentrating on the promotion of the hotel. The last proposal part presents the ideas how to improve on the knowledge about the kosher meals, the language proficiency of the hotel's staff and options of the cooperation and promotion of the kosher hotel King David, what eventually makes an overall improvement of the King David hotel's quality and an increase in awareness of the aimed clientele.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá etickými problémami v cestovnom ruchu, ktoré súvisia s kultúrnymi odlišnosťami židovskej klientely a možnosti ich predchádzania. Cieľom tejto práce je analýza cestovného ruchu so zameraním sa na židovských turistov a poukázanie na špecifiká tejto kultúry pri tvorbe produktu a poskytovaní služieb. Prvá, teoreticko- metodologická časť, sa venuje predstavením základných pojmov, ktoré súvisia s etikou, morálkou, hodnotami a hodnotovými orientáciami v rámci jednotlivých kultúr, ovplyvňujúce v neposlednom rade aj náboženstvom. Druhá, analytická časť, sa zaoberá históriou a vývojom židovskej kultúry a priblížením zvykov a tradícii tejto kultúry. Na základe analýzy kosher hotela King David v Prahe, pomocou riadených rozhovorov, vymedzuje špecifické pravidlá kosher kuchyne, porovnáva požiadavky židovskej klientely v cestovnom ruchu a zameriava sa na propagáciu tohto hotela. Posledná, návrhová časť, podáva návrhy na prehĺbenie znalostí ponúkaných kosher pokrmov, dbanie na jazykové znalostí personálu a možnosti spolupráce a propagácie kosher hotela King David, čo vedie k celkovému zlepšeniu kvality hotela a k zvýšeniu povedomia u cieľovej klientely.
