Grain-size analysis of bed sediments of the check-dam impacted Tyra Stream

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá granulometrickou analýzou, tedy postupným opracováváním klastů ve směru po proudu bystřinné řeky Tyry, jež pramení v Moravskoslezských Beskydech. Mimo jiné do tohoto procesu také výrazně zasahují antropogenně vytvořené přehrážky, jejichž funkce podstatně ovlivňuje velikost klastů. K získání dat byla užita metoda odběru klastů podle Wolmana (1954). Data byla zpracována pomocí statistických metod, z nichž byly vypočteny zrnitostní percentily, které nám demonstrují změny velikostí sedimentů. Z výsledku je patrné hrubnutí říčních sedimentů směrem po proudu, což v případě vytříděnosti říčních sedimentů říci nemůžeme, ba naopak, zde pozorujeme snížení vytřídění říčních sedimentů směrem po proudu. Z pozorovaných závislostí mezi parametry přehrážek a jednotlivými percentily je patrná nejvyšší závislost mezi výškou přehrážky a jednotlivými percentily.

Abstract:

Making use of granulometric analysis, this bachelor´s thesis studies gradual changes in the shape and size of sediment clasts as they travel downstream the Tyra stream, which springs in the Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mts. The movement of the clasts downstream is, among others, significantly affected by anthropogenic barriers that have a substantial impact on the size of the clasts. The data, obtained using the method of clast sampling according to Wolman (1954), were processed by statistical methods in order to calculate grain size distribution percentiles demonstrating the changes in the size of clasts. The results show obvious coarsening of river sediments downstream, while relatively low sorting of the same. Among the studied dependencies between the parameters of the barriers and individual percentiles, the highest apparent dependence was observed between the barrier height and individual percentiles.
