Costs and benefits of inclusion the monuments of Kroměříž in UNESCO World Heritage List

Abstract:

Tématem magisterské diplomové práce jsou kroměřížské památky UNESCO, tedy komplex Arcibiskupského zámku s přilehlou Podzámeckou zahradou a nedalekou Květnou zahradou. Práce nejprve pojednává o organizaci UNESCO. Objasňuje historii jejího vzniku, vymezuje její poslání, hlavní cíle a popisuje její vnitřní strukturu. Dále představuje Seznam světového dědictví a přibližuje podmínky pro zápis kulturní památky na něj, ale také okolnosti, za nichž může dojít k vyškrtnutí památky z tohoto prestižního výběru. Následuje představení památek UNESCO v České republice s důrazem na podrobnější popis Kroměříže a jejích památek zapsaných na Seznam světového dědictví. Přiblížen je rovněž vztah místních občanů k jejich mimořádně hodnotným památkám. Ve své praktické části se následně práce zaměřuje na zkoumání dopadů zařazení kroměřížských památek na Seznam světového dědictví z hlediska turismu. Sleduje přitom tyto ukazatele: počet návštěvníků památek, obyvatel města, výši vybraných ubytovacích poplatků, výstavbu nových ubytovacích zařízení, počet živností, okrajově také marketing.

Abstract:

The topic of the master's thesis is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kroměříž, ie the complex of the Archbishop's Chateau with the adjacent Chateau Garden and the nearby Flower Garden. The thesis first deals with UNESCO. It explains the history of its origin, defines its mission, main objectives and describes its internal structure. Furthermore, it presents the World Heritage List and describes the conditions for the registration of a cultural monument to it, as well as the circumstances under which a monument from this prestigious selection may be deleted. The following is a presentation of UNESCO monuments in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on a more detailed description of Kroměříž and its monuments listed on the World Heritage List. The relationship of local citizens to their extremely valuable monuments is also presented. In its practical part, the thesis then focuses on examining the impact of the inclusion of Kroměříž monuments on the World Heritage List in terms of tourism. In doing so, it monitors the following indicators: number of visitors to monuments, city residents, amount of selected accommodation fees, construction of new accommodation facilities, number of trades, marginally also marketing.
