The use of fog in protection of orchards from the freeze

Abstract:

Diplomová práce navazuje na teoreticky zaměřenou bakalářskou práci s názvem „Metody protimrazové ochrany sadů“. Osnovu tvoří popis vzniku a negativního působení vegetačních mrazíků na kvetoucí stromy. Experiment sledující dopady zamlžování na teplotu a vlhkost vzduchu v sadu hrušní. Během sledovaného období se vyskytly dny s vegetačním mrazem jak v jarním období roku 2020, tak i v roce 2021. Na rozdíl od roku 2020 se však v roce 2021 do doby zpracování diplomové práce objevily vegetační mrazy v době, kdy ještě nedošlo k otevření pupenů a nebylo potřebné aplikovat protimrazovou ochranu. V sadu a mimo sad (kontrola) byly nainstalovány meteorologické stanice s čidly teploty a vlhkosti vzduchu ve výškách 0,2 a 2 m. Aplikace ochrany ve formě umělé mlhy napomohlo v roce 2020 ke zvýšení teploty v sadu a na rozdíl od sousedních nechráněných sadů nebyly po aplikaci mlhy porosty nízkými teplotami poškozeny. Úroda v tomto roce byla stejná jako u ročníků bez výskytu pozdních jarních vegetačních mrazů.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis follows up on the theoretically focused bachelor's thesis entitled "Methods of antifreeze protection of orchards". The essence of this work consists of a description of the origin and negative effects of vegetation frosts on flowering trees and an experiment monitoring the effects of fogging on the temperature and humidity in the pear orchard. During the observed period, days with vegetation frost occurred both in the spring period of 2020 and in 2021. However, in 2021, until the elaboration of the diploma thesis, vegetation frosts appeared at a time when the buds had not yet been opened and it was not necessary to apply frost protection. Meteorological stations with temperature and humidity sensors at heights of 0.2 and 2 m were installed in the orchard and outside the orchards. The application of protection in the form of artificial fog in 2020 helped to increase the temperature in the orchard and the stands were not damaged by low temperatures and the yield was at the level of years without the occurrence of late spring vegetation frosts.
