The influence of the sense of coherence level on the choice of coping strategies at adolescents at different life contexts

Abstract:

Teoretická část práce se věnuje vymezení pojmu stresu a dále tématům Sense of coherence a copingovým strategiím u adolescentů, včetně vlivu Sense of coherence na volbu copingových strategií u adolescentů. Cílem výzkumu bylo zjistit jaký vliv má úroveň Sense of coherence na volbu copingových strategií u dospívajících a ověřit možné vztahy mezi věkem, pohlavím a volenými copingovými strategiemi a úrovní Sense of coherence, včetně rozdílů mezi skupinami adolescentů. Výzkumný soubor tvořili respondenti (14-19 let) z dětských domovů Moravskoslezského a Olomouckého kraje (n=206) a respondenti z rodinného prostředí, osloveni na středních školách v Moravskoslezském kraji (n=204). Celkem bylo osloveno 410 probandů. U obou skupin byla zjišťována úroveň SOC (dotazník Sense of coherence) a volba copingových strategií (dotazník Children´s coping strategies checklist ? revision 1). Byla zjištěna korelace mezi některými složkami Sense of coherence a volenými copingovými strategiemi. Mezi oběma skupinami se objevily rozdíly v úrovni složek Sense of coherence (adolescenti z dětských domovů dosahovali o něco nižších úrovní v oblastech zvládnutelnosti a smysluplnosti), nepatrné rozdíly byly mezi volenými copingovými strategiemi.

Abstract:

The theoretical part of the work looks at several concepts such as stress, sense of coherence, coping strategies at adolescents. Furthermore, it also considers the influence of sense of coherence on the choice of the coping strategies at adolescents. The aim of the research was to discover the extent of influence the Sense of conherence has on the coping strategies of adolescents. Furthermore, to verify potential correlations between age, sex and coping strategies and level of the Sense of coherence, including the differences between two groups of adolescents examined. The researched sample consisted of 206 adolescents (14-19 age range) from orphanages in Moravskoslezský and Olomoucký region and 204 adolescents from family environment, who were approached at high schools in Moravskoslezský region. A total of 410 probands were addressed. The SOC level was measured at both groups (questionnaire Sense of Coherence) and the choice of coping strategies (questionnaire Children´s Coping Strategies Checklist ? revision 1) investigated. There were some correlations found between some components of the Sense of coherence and chosen coping strategies. There were some differences among the components of the Sense of coherence between both groups (the adolescents from orphanages reached slightly lower levels of manageability and meaningfulness) and there were also some differences found between chosen coping strategies.
