Audition: a milestone in young cellist's life

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce pojednává o tématu violoncellových orchestrálních konkurzů. V první kapitole zkoumá pracovní nabídku v orchestrech v ČR a pohlíží i na další příležitosti k získávání orchestrální praxe mimo pracovní poměr, jako jsou například orchestrální akademie nebo mládežnické orchestry. Ve druhé kapitole popisuje běžný průběh konkurzu, od jeho struktury a časového rozvržení, přes povinný repertoár, až po složení poroty a bodování. Jednotlivé parametry srovnává napříč vybranými orchestry ČR. Zaměřuje se na praktické záležitosti, se kterými se uchazeči při účasti na konkurzu mohou potkat a pokouší se podat návod, jak v disciplíně konkurzních řízení co nejlépe uspět. Ve třetí kapitole se zamýšlí nad tím, jak by měl vypadat ideální způsob přípravy adepta ke konkurzu, ať už z pohledu časového plánu, metodiky nácviku konkurzního repertoáru, kde se věnuje především technickým záležitostem, anebo z pohledu psychické přípravy, kde je čerpáno jak z odborné literatury, tak z autorčiných vlastních zkušeností. V poslední nejrozsáhlejší kapitole práce najdeme rozbor konkrétních konkurzních partů. Ty jsou vybrané z repertoáru divadelních i symfonických orchestrů a jsou mezi nimi jak tutti, tak sólové pasáže. Autorka na party nahlíží z hlediska kontextu celého díla, ale zároveň se zabývá i technickými a hudebními detaily. Práce se snaží podat návod ke správné interpretaci a efektivnímu nácviku těchto vybraných konkurzních míst.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is dedicated to the cello orchestral auditions.In the first chapter it examines the offer of orchestral jobs in the Czech Republic and looks at other possibilities to gain orchestral practice, such as orchestral academies or youth orchestras.The second chapter describes the regular process of audition, from its structure and time schedule, through the mandatory repertoire, to the jury members and evaluation. Theses also compares some of those parameters across selected Czech orchestras. It focuses on practical issues that candidates may encounter while participating in the audition process and it seeks to provide guidance, how to succeed in the audition process. The third chapter considers the ideal way of audition preparation, whether from the point of time management, the methodics of learning and practicing the audition repertoire, where she focuses mainly on the general technical issues, or from the point of mental training, where it is drawn from both, the special literature as well as the author’s own experience.In the last and most extensive chapter of the thesis we find an analysis of the specific audition excerpts. Those were selected from the repertoire of symphonic as well as theatre orchestras, and it includes both tutti and solo passages. The author looks on the context of the whole works, but also deals with specific details. Thesis also provides the guidance to the correct interpretation and effective practice of the chosen audition excerpts.
