Cultural differences in formal relations - USA and Czech Republic

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce si klade za cíl identifikovat česko-americké a americko-české kulturní standardy v pracovním prostředí a formulovat doporučení pro Čechy ve formálních vztazích s Američany. První část práce se zabývá prozkoumáním dosavadních přístupů ke kulturním odlišnostem a rešerší hlavních autorů, kteří se zabývají kulturními dimenzemi a kulturními standardy, přičemž následuje aplikace těchto poznatků na Českou republiku a Spojené státy. V druhé části práce jsou představeny výsledky výzkumu autorky, na jejichž základě jsou identifikovány česko-americké a americko-české kulturní standardy v pracovním prostředí. Literární rešerše v oblasti interkulturních kompetencí a kulturních dimenzí společně s výsledky primárního výzkumu představují podklad pro závěrečnou část práce, kde jsou formulovány doporučení pro Čechy ve formálních vztazích s Američany.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to identify Czech-American and American-Czech cultural standards in the work environment and to formulate recommendations for Czechs in formal relations with Americans. The first part of the thesis deals with the examination of existing approaches to cultural differences and research of the main authors who deal with cultural dimensions and cultural standards with subsequent application to the Czech Republic and the United States. The second part of the thesis presents the author's research results, based on which Czech-American and American-Czech cultural standards in the work environment are identified. Literature review in the field of intercultural competencies and cultural dimensions together with the results of primary research form the basis for the final part of the thesis, where recommendations for Czechs in formal relations with Americans are formulated.
