Diplomová práca sa zaoberá integráciou žiakov so zdravotným postihnutím do základných škôl. Teoretická časť práce sa zameriava na vymedzenie základných pojmov, ktoré práca obsahuje, časť psychologickú, týkajúcu sa postojov, ako aj na pojem integrácie, jej vymedzenie, a legislatívnu úpravu na Slovensku, v porovnaní s Českou republikou a tiež mapuje jej súčasný stav v týchto dvoch krajinách.
