Investment decisions of university students' households as a process of shaping the structure of their property

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá komparativní analýzou kritérií investičních preferencí domácnostní českých vysokoškolských studentů v období koronavirové krize. Teoretická část vymezuje typologii investičních produktů a popisuje různá investiční kritéria působící na rozhodovací proces jednotlivců. Praktická část byla provedena pomocí kvantitativního šetření, prostřednictvím elektronického dotazníku. Během necelých dvou měsíců odpovědělo 389 respondentů z 5 fakult Vysoké školy ekonomické v Praze. Výsledky ukazují, že hlavním preferovaným kritériem byla profitabilita na úkor likvidity a rizikovosti. Zároveň existují statisticky významné rozdíly v preferovaných kritérií v závislosti na fakultách i pohlaví. Přesto, pozitivní korelace nad 50 % mezi příjmem a ochotou investovat nebyla nalezena. Hlavní rozdíl ve srovnání se studiemi před krizí je právě ve velkém tlaku na ziskovost, což odráží respekt z vysoké inflace odstartované probíhající pandemií.

Abstract:

This thesis presents a comparative analysis examining the Czech university students’ household investment preferences during coronavirus crisis. The theoretical part outlines the typology of investment products and describes various investment criteria affecting the personal decision-making process. The practical part has been conducted by quantitative research investigation through online questionnaires. During approximately one month, 389 respondents from 5 faculties of the Prague University of Economics and Business responded to this survey. Results show that the most preferred criterion was profitability, at the expense of liquidity and low risk. Simultaneously, there are significant statistical differences in preferred criteria based on faculties and gender. Nevertheless, positive correlation above 50 % between respondent´s income and willingness to invest have not been found. Main difference compared to studies performed between crisis is in high pressure on profitability which shows respect from high inflation, caused by pandemic.
