Karel Klostermann - Between two poles

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se pokusí konfrontovat názory dvou významných autorů a znalců díla Karla Klostermanna. Oba se zaměřují nejen na Klostermannovu literární tvorbu, ale i na jeho rodinu a samozřejmě spisovatele samého. Zatímco Max Regal představuje Klostermanna jako téměř dokonalého člověka, srdečného, ochotného a (až na některé výjimky) všeobecně oblíbeného, Ivan Martinovský je už ve svých soudech mnohem střízlivější a na šumavského spisovatele nahlíží kritičtěji. Spisovatel se tak doslova ocitá mezi dvěma póly na jedné straně jako tvůrce ověnčený samými superlativy, na straně druhé jako člověk, jenž chybuje jako všichni ostatní.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis will attempt to confront the opinions of two important authors and experts of the work of Karel Klostermann. Both focus not only on Klostermann's literary work, but also on his family and, of course, the writer himself. While Max Regal introduces Klostermann as an almost perfect person, cordial, willing and, to some extent, popular, Ivan Martinovsky is much more sober in his judgments, and he sees the writer more critically. The writer literally finds himself between two poles - on the one hand, as a creator who is awarded the superlatives of his own, on the other, as a man who is failing like everyone else.
