Somatic dimensions and proportions of newborns in relation to gestational age (current status in the region of Banská Bystrica)

Abstract:

Among others, growth and evolution of a young organism are the indicators of child's health. Knowledge of prenatal development, including changes following the birth of a newborn and its anthropometric characteristics, has become the basis for this bachelor thesis. It is a neonatal age, which brings with itself variability and certain originality of somatic and physiologic features. By an anthropological measurement, I observed and recorded a certain amount of data and measures. The set of individuals was represented by premature and physiological (full-term) newborn babies born from 36th to 42nd gestational week. The study took place in F. D. Roosevel Teaching Hospital with Policlinic in Banská Bystrica. Total of 9 metric and 5 non-metric values were evaluated. At the same time, I had a possibility to, objectively and individually, sum up the growth ratios with regards to gestational age of the new-born babies in Banská Bystrica region. In my study, the weight, body length, circumference of the head, chest, shoulders, thighs or length of the upper and lower limbs have become priority data describing the level of physical evolution. By using graphs, indexes, and statistics, I could process and consequently compare the obtained data with National anthropological research of the Slovak and Czech republic.

Abstract:

Růst a vývoj dětského organismu je jedním z ukazatelů zdraví dítěte. Znalosti o prenatálním vývoji, včetně změn po narození u novorozence a jeho antropometrické charakteristiky, se staly základem pro tuto bakalářskou práci. Právě novorozenecký věk přináší s sebou různorodost a jistou originalitu somatických a fyziologických znaků. Pomocí antropologického měření jsme zkoumali a zaznamenávali několik hodnot a mír. Soubor jedinců tvořili lehce nedonošení a fyziologičtí (donošení) novorozenci narození od 36. do 42. gestačního týdne. Studie proběhla ve Fakultní nemocnici s poliklinikou F. D. Roosevelta v Banské Bystrici. Celkem bylo hodnoceno 9 metrických a 5 nemetrických hodnot. Zároveň jsem měla možnost objektivně a samostatně zhodnotit růstové poměry ve vztahu ke gestačnímu věku novorozenců v Banskobystrickém kraji. Prioritními údaji o úrovni tělesného vývoje se v mé studii stala hmotnost a tělesná délka, obvod hlavy, hrudníku, paže, stehna či délka horní a dolní končetiny. Za pomoci grafů, indexů a statistiky jsem získaná data mohla zpracovat a následně i porovnat s Celostátními antropologickými výzkumy Slovenské i České republiky.
